Talofa Airways operated in the weekend
Talofa Airways was the only connection between Samoa and American Samoa over the weekend as many travellers were stranded because of the cancellation of shipping and airline service.
The Chairman and Chief Executive of Talofa Airways, Toleafoa Captain Jeffrey Hunter has clarified that their flights on the weekend were not cancelled.
"No, we did not cancel our flights on the weekend but it was delayed. It was delayed due to bad weather, we had two flights that we weren't able to take on Saturday so those two flights were done yesterday, on Sunday," he said in an interview.
It was a different story for Samoa Airways who had to cancel their flights on Friday due to bad weather. However, all flights have resumed.
The Samoa Meteorological Service issued their weather report on Monday evening which states heavy rain advisory, flood advisory and marine advisory are still in effect for Samoa.
A trough of low-pressure system generating light winds and isolated showers remains over Samoa. Meanwhile, a convergence zone with associated clouds and heavy rain now lies north. Observations in the afternoon show waves across our marine waters to remain above 2.5 metres. These severe weather conditions will continue to impact the country through tomorrow.
Potential impacts include heavy downpours with poor visibility, strong and gusty periods, foggy and slippery roads over mountain passes and ranges, pooling near roadsides and waterways. Possible landslides and flooding in vulnerable areas as well as major rivers. Strong currents and rough seas.
