Heiti Pelenato had to learn to speak new languages when she joined Agape Primary School in Fugalei, however, this was a motivation for her to become the school topper.

The daughter of Pastor Steven Pelenato and Marani Itchner Pelenato is 14 years old and was born in Tahiti. Her mother is Tahitian.

Heiti grew up in Tahiti and spoke French, so when she joined Agape Primary School, her biggest challenge was to learn English and master Samoan.

“However, with a lot of effort and, most importantly, with God’s help, I was able to overcome this language barrier, which has brought me to where I am today,” she said.

Her parents could not be prouder of their daughter’s achievements.

“Seeing our daughter recognised for her hard work and dedication is truly a special moment for us. We're so grateful for all the support we've received along the way, and it’s been amazing to watch her grow and achieve this milestone,” they said.

Heiti has two other sisters and she is the middle child and the first dux in the family

She said she was driven by her grandparents who were teachers and their dedication to education inspires her.

Heiti has yet to make up her mind about which college she will go to but knows that there are a lot of good options.

“When it comes to my dream career, I have two different options in mind: one is to become a flight attendant, and the other is to pursue my passion for entrepreneurship and become a business owner,” she said.

:I’m still exploring both paths and maybe there will be other opportunities in the future. Ultimately, I trust that the Lord knows what’s best for me, and I’m confident that whatever happens will be part of my journey.”

Heiti’s aunt Zelluiah Anuu said she was proud of the hard work, especially the challenge of mastering a new language.

“Her determination and commitment to excellence truly inspire me. As her uncle, witnessing her achievements fills my heart with joy. She's shown that effort and perseverance can lead to remarkable success, and I couldn't be happier for her”

For now, Heiti looks forward to the holidays and enjoying time with her family.
