Browns to be sentenced next month
Husband and wife, Vaa and Maylynn Brown, will know their fate next month after being found guilty by the District Court of more than 100 charges, which include defamation.
The charges stemmed from when the couple made defaming remarks on their online programme called "E tu manu ae le tu logologo".
The complainants included former Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo, in which the couple accused him of corruption and being involved with drugs, basically methamphetamine.
Another complainant was former Assistant Police Commissioner Papalii Efo Moalele.
The couple faced 253 charges on allegations of harassment using an electronic device, insulting words, and defamation against former senior officers from the Ministry of Police.
The defendants were vocal against senior police officers over their handling of the unsolved death of Tu’uau Fa’asavalu in 2021.
In one of their social media posts, the defendants said that the former Police Commissioner and other senior officers tried to cover up for a senior politician they claim is responsible for the death of the teenager.
Judge Papalii Rosella Papalii delivered the verdict in March. The Browns will be sentenced next month.
They are both on bail with strict conditions.
