Anthony Stowers was named the dux of Saint Joseph's College on Friday at Alafua, and he dedicates his achievements to his parents. They have been the backbone of his journey as a student.

The 17-year-old from Moamoa is looking at medicine as the preferred career choice.

He said his four years at St Joseph's College were tough and challenging. He said his journey was made possible with his faith in God and support from his parents, family, and friends.

"I am very humbled with all of this success, but looking back now I can proudly say "God did it for me". It was indeed a tough journey but I made it through and came out on top," he said.

"There were hurdles along the way, but I surpassed them all. I had a great support system and was surrounded by so many people who pushed me to do better," he said.

"The goal for me is to become a doctor. No one in my family is a doctor, but I want to be the first one for our family. I want to help the sick and my family if I reach my goal.

"I am looking forward to what God has in store for me in the future."

As Anthony looks back on this year's journey, there were a lot of disruptions to his studies. He was grateful to St Joseph's College for the brotherhood, memories, and lessons. He said he was blessed to leave a legacy behind when leaving St Joseph's gates.

Proud father Rodney Stowers said he was overjoyed by his son's achievement and he hopes that he will be able to continue and carry on this path.

"Today's happenings, the glory goes back to the Lord. My son's achievements, no other words just that I am very proud of all he has done this year and being named the dux of Saint Joseph's College 2024," said the senior Stowers.

"Our prayer is for him to keep it up, now that he will move on to the other stage of education which is university. We hope he will continue to strive for the better because some students end up drifting away from the path once they get up there."

Deputy Vice Principal congratulated all the graduates of 2024 saying that despite the challenges they faced this year, they conquered it all.

Year 13 Second place went to Charis Malua Ainuu and third place went to Tamotu Meredith who were all from the Science field. The top Arts student was Vince De Paul Peter Viane, the top Commerce student was Patrick Taefu, and the top TVET student was John Papalii.
