Single father motivated by love and dream for his kids
When life gets tough the tough gets going. But even for the toughest, it’s a struggle. So’o Vili of Fasto’o-uta knows this.
“For me the most important thing is that I have a a role I need to concentrate on completely,” he said.
“This is working the plantation to help my kids and provide for the family.
So’o said life is tough.
“I admit we are struggling with life at the moment. I know my priority is to provide a stable foundation for my kids growing up and that’s what I’m doing.”
The 55-year-old is a single father of five. His wife has passed on.
“I try my best to manage our money the best I can but it’s just not enough. That’s why my two kids go to work. I try and do my part to earn some cash for the family.”
So’o may pine for a quiet moment but he has no regrets about how things have turned out.
“I know life is getting harder and harder but I have no regrets of life itself,” he said.
“The only way we have to deal with life is to work together as a family. The kids work hard to put food on the table so it makes me happy to make some extra money too from my plantation.
“To be honest, there are many fathers who don’t try and help out their family but I know some do their best.”
Asked about his dream for the future, he said:
“I just want my kids to have a great life.
“They are old enough to learn and pay attention to the struggle we are currently facing and I hope it will motivate them to do better and live a better life when they have children.”
