Falefa Falls Fun Run returns

It has been five years since the Falefa Falls Fun Run was put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It has returned this year with a successful second event held on Saturday.
Ten successful participants contested the fun run which offered distances of 10 km, 6 km, and 4 km, eight contested the 10 km and two ran the 6 km.
The first run was held in May and with the first race successfully completed which was called the South Coast Run series and had set a high bar for the upcoming events, which promised a more challenging and rewarding experiences for all participants.
Falefā Falls is known for it's beautiful views over the Bay on the way to the 10 km turnaround and the still and bright morning makes for a beautiful backdrop to the real task of hill repeats and mastering the heat on this course.
Winners include Benson Hunt of Tanoa Hotels who ran this course on Saturday faster than the 9.6 km Tanoa Run last week on the flat at Mulinu'u Peninsula.
"First, I'm grateful to God for the strength to run, also to my bosses at Tanoa Hotels for the huge encouragement for me to run. This run was harder than the other two runs (Siumu South Coast and Mulinu'u). It was very difficult for me but I got to the finish," he said.
Benson was behind at the turnaround mark but managed to overtake the leaders on the return. This is his third win in the Sāmoa Run Series - Siumu (12 km), Tanoa 9.6 km at Mulinu'u, and now Falefā Falls.
The women's category was won by Hannah Grant who is a teacher at Vaoala Beach School.
"Enjoyable about the run the views were incredible over the sea. It's the most beautiful run I've done in Sāmoa. The challenges were hills and heat, in the shade it was okay," she said.
Everyone commented equally about the heat and hills and were also unanimous on the verdict of this being the most stunning run they have run in Sāmoa.
First-time runner To'oā Brown from Vaoala who signed up for the 4 km and ran the 6 km instead, shared about the success of the run and the astonishing view.
"It was so much fun, it was my first run. Planned to do the four km but ended up doing the 6 km. This is new territory for me. I stopped a few times to take pics of the view," he said.
