Senior doctors' contribution acknowledged

The Samoa Medical Association (S.M.A.) paid a heartfelt tribute to nine distinguished honorary life members during the opening ceremony of its 77th Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference on Thursday.
These esteemed individuals, all aged 70 and above, were recognised for their lifelong dedication and service to Samoa's medical community.

S.M.A. President, Taule'ale'ausumai Dr. Titi Lamese, expressed deep gratitude. He thanked them for their leadership, sacrifices, dedication, and hard work over the years that have been invaluable not only to the association but also to the people of Samoa.
"Your wisdom and experience continue to inspire and guide us,” said Dr. Lamese, emphasising the profound impact these senior doctors have had on shaping Samoa’s healthcare landscape.
The nine honorary life members honored were: Namulauulu Dr. Nu'ualofa Tuau Potoi, Former Cabinet Minister Leao Tuitama Dr. Talalelei Tuitama, Papali'i Dr. Samuelu Petaia, Motupuaa Dr. Aisoli Va'ai, Former Cabinet Minister Salausa Dr. John Ah Ching, Lea'ana Dr. Lance Eves, Dr. Teremoana Puni, Dr. Walter Vermeulen and Papali'i Dr. Viopapa Annandale Atherton.
These individuals have not only contributed significantly to the medical field through their expertise and dedication but have also mentored and paved the way for the new generation of medical professionals in Samoa. Their enduring commitment has helped ensure the continued growth and excellence of the country's healthcare system.
The acknowledgment of these senior doctors set a reflective and respectful tone for the conference, underscoring the importance of recognising and valuing the contributions of those who have devoted their lives to the betterment of public health in Samoa.
