Good start to 13 Days of Christmas

The 13 Days of Christmas kicked off with a bang with powerful messages from spiritual and government leaders combined with the soothing voices of the Police band and the Ofisa Faleula Methodist at the Congregational Christian Church at Vaitele-Uta on Tuesday evening.
The popular event started with a service and prayer by the President of the Methodist Church, Reverend Faulalo Leti Paaga and his choir.
It was then followed by an official word of encouragement from the Government towards the church for continuing to pursue the spirit of Christmas.
"I believe this is the 26th year since the 13 Days of Christmas started and I also believe it is an event that is well known in the country to start the Christmas season through songs of praise of Christ's birth, our Saviour," said the Minister for Heath Valasi Tafito Selesele.
"Hence, we acknowledge the church minister of this church, Rev. Muao Fagasua Su'a and all families of this church, well done for your service and patience in striving for excellence and continuing to carry out this program."
The event attracted a full house including cabinet members, church leaders, the two choirs, families and friends as well as tourists in support of the programme.
Valasi signalled the start of the 13 Days of Christmas by switching the lights on the Christmas tree at the church.
