The qualities of a candidate

Dear Editor,

These are some of the physical benchmarks that I think the now five or seven parties anticipating the upcoming General Election should screen their Sui Faaolioli, now eying to represent their constituencies. Should kapena for as a guideline:

*  Matai title - that is respected by more than 50 per cent of the Constituency.

*  Tama o Aiga - certain level of wealth, to help stop our representatives from raiding the country’s coffers to get personal gain as soon as they get in. Yes, I know, no guarantee.

*  Leadership - certain level of understanding of our Faasamoa and English and some general knowledge of how to run a government with clear diplomacy.

* Love and Compassion - for the people of  Samoa and their constituencies.

*  Obey the "Rule of Law" - to respect and obey the rules of Samoa’s laws that govern us all.

From a spiritual side, if anything to go by from the last lot in the parliamentary session, poor God, wounded from all sides!!!

Manuia le tatou alo atu ile tatou tapegapegana mo le tatou faigapalota Samoa.
