HOS issues warrant of elections

The Head of State, Tuimalealiifano Va’aletoa Sualauvii II, has officially issued the Warrant of Election, confirming the results of Samoa’s 2025 General Election.
The warrant secures the names of all successful candidates from the 51 electoral constituencies, formally recognising them to serve as members of parliament of the Independent State of Samoa under Section 84(2) of the Electoral Act 2019.
The caretaker Minister of Public Enterprises and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour, Leatinuu Wayne Sooialo, was uncontested and therefore declared a member of parliament under Section 59(2) of the Electoral Act 2019.
With the warrant now issued, the newly elected MPs are expected to be sworn into parliament next week.
The official count for the elections concluded on Thursday afternoon, after which the Electoral Commissioner returned the writ of election to the Head of State on Friday.
By Friday afternoon, the Head of State confirmed that all those who won their seats were now declared members of parliament.
