Five remain to be counted, FAST leads official tally

Only five constituencies remain to be counted in the official count of the 2025 general elections and the Office of the Electoral Commission looks to be on schedule.
When the count ended on Wednesday night, the Faatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) party had taken a strong lead, winning 28 of the 46 constituencies counted by Wednesday night, according to official results.
The Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) secured 13 seats, while the Samoa Uniting Party (SUP) holds two seats, including Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata‘afa in Lotofaga and Leatinuu Wayne So‘oialo in Faleata 2.
Three independents, Faalogo Asuao Kapeliele II (Siumu), Fiu Ponifasio Vasa (Palauli 2), and Motuopuaa Henry Papali‘i (Vaisigano 2), also won seats.
FAST’s victories span both Upolu and Savai‘i. On Upolu, the party secured key constituencies including A‘ana Alofi 1–4, Sagaga 2 and 3, Safata 1, Lefaga & Falease‘ela, Faleata 4, and Vaimauga.
On Savai‘i, FAST claimed major constituencies including Gagaemauga 1 and 2, Gagaifomauga 1–3, Palauli 1 and 3, Satupaitea, and Alataua i Sisifo, with notable victories by senior members Laauli Leuatea Schmidt and Mulipola Anarosa Ale-Molio‘o.
HRPP retained influence in traditional strongholds such as Lepa, Faleata 1 and 3, and Vaimauga 2 and 3, with party leader Tuilaepa Sa‘ilele Malielegaoi successfully defending his Lepa seat.
The Office of the Electoral Commissioner (OEC) confirmed that counting will continue on Thursday for the remaining five constituencies: Aleipata Itupa i Lalo, Vaa o Fonoti, Anoamaa, Salega 1, and Aleipata Itupa i Luga.
Electoral Commissioner Tuiafelolo John Stanley confirmed the process has been transparent, with all tallies verified by party scrutineers and observers.
The five constituencies that remain are Salega 1, Anoamaa 2, Aleipata Itupa I Luga, Aleipata Itupa I Lalo and Vaa o Fonoti.
