Final count delayed: Gagaemauga 2 and Vaisigano 1 count postponed

Two of the last eight constituencies that were scheduled to have their final counts on Monday for the second session have been postponed to Tuesday.

This was done due to the time consumed in counting other constituencies.

Gagaemauga 2 and Vaisigano 1 scrutineers were told by the Office of the Electoral Commissioner at 9 pm Monday that the final counts for their constituencies will be postponed to 9 am Tuesday due to the delay of the final counts of other constituencies.

These two constituencies will be added to 16 other constituencies that are scheduled for Tuesday, 2 September.

These constituencies include the first session are Sagaga 1, Sagaga 2, Sagaga 3, Sagaga 4, A'ana Alofi 1, A'ana Alofi 3, A'ana Alofi 4, Siumu. Second session are: Satupa'itea, Gagaifomauga 1, Palauli 1, Gagaemauga 1, Falealupo, Fa'asaleleaga 2, Fa'asalele'aga 3 and Gagaifomauga 3.

Some scrutineers were seen with mats and pillows outside the OEC operation centre, awaiting their turns for the second session.

Electoral Commissioner, Tuiafelolo John Stanley, told the media that the official count times will change based on how long it takes finish one constituency.

The official count for the second day on Tuesday will start at 9 am with 20 constituencies to be counted.

Earlier on Monday the OEC announced a schedule that stated that final count would stretch until Thursday.
