First final count session still ongoing

The first session of the official count for eight constituencies, which started at 10 am, is still ongoing after six and a half hours.

The schedule given by the Office of the Electoral Commissioner is that the first session final count should be completed at around 1 pm and then the second session with another eight constituencies to be counted.

The first eight constituencies with their final counts ongoing include Vaimauga 1, Vaimauga 2, Vaiumauga 3, Vaimauga 4, Safata 2, Aana Alofi 2, Faleata 3, and Faleata 4.

Second session, which was supposed to start at 1 pm, included Gagaifomauga 2, Palauli 2, Gagaemauga 2, Alataua Sisifo, Faleata 1, Vaisigano 2, Vaisigano 1 and Palauli 3.

Safata 2 is the constituency where the results were changed due to an error at one of its polling booths, Tafitoala EFKS where the Electoral Commissioner said it was an error by the Electoral Officer in charge of that polling booth.

The official count for Safata 2 will be conducted in the second session for Monday.

All results for these 16 constituencies will be recorded on the boards once they are finalised.

Other constituencies Gagaemauga 2 and Gagaifomauga 2 are also included in the constituencies that some ballot boxes could not be counted last Friday because of another errors.

Tuiafelolo revealed that the Eletoral Officials for these four polling booths in these constituencies placed the tally sheets in the ballot boxes but they should be hand carried.

All these boxes for these two constituencies will be counted today.

Electoral Commissioner Tuiafelolo John Stanley assumed that the final count for Monday will go on until 3am.
