My New Teacher

I have a new teacher named Ms Kaloti. She is short and not skinny at all. Her voice is like thunder. Her glare is deadly. Her teeth are brown and her lips are black.

Her fingernails are brown from holding a cigarette in them six times a day. She likes me when I give her lunch and tell her she looks pretty. She wears the same black skirt 4 days a week, I wonder if she ever washes it?

She yells and yells and yells then when she sits down, she always falls asleep. She smiles when she watches Facebook videos on her phone but growls and complains when I ask her for help.

She sometimes makes me brush her hair and even asks me to pull out her grey friends. She talks so fast and so loud that I never understand what she is talking about. Her favourites are twin girls who always, always, give her lunch.

I miss my old teacher who used to treat me nicely. He never had any favourites or yelled when we needed help. He smoked as well but not in class, and never watched videos till after school.

He always told me it was ok to ask for help and made me try and try again. He never threw my book at me when I made a mistake, or told me I was dumb and not as smart as my sister. He never had favourites and never ever asked me for lunch.

My new teacher Ms Kaloti may not know it, but I love her and wish she would love me back. I wish she would see me for who I am and not compare me to my sister who is better at everything than I am. I wish she would help me and not tell me I am dumb.

I wish she would not yell at me and throw my book at me when I am wrong. I wish she would like me as much as the twins but most of all, I wish she would help me see the good in myself.
