There are differing opinions on an elected official’s lack of footwear at a regional event. Some say it is getting back to the roots, while others say that it is disrespectful. This meeting will now move to Europe. Will the elected official go to the world body’s meeting barefoot?

JOYRIDE

A local university student returned from class to find her vehicle missing. It was taken for a joyride by another student. Let’s just say the boys in blue are now involved.

ORDERS

For those in the disciplined forces, following orders is mandatory; however, can they draw the line if the orders are compelling them to do something that is not legal? Food for thought.

FREE TRANSPORT

New Zealand is providing fuel money, while states in Australia are making public transport free to deal with the increasing fuel costs. There is no word on what we would be doing. Surely, bus companies would not mind subsidised routes.

RENEWABLE

The narrative given is that the nation’s renewable energy stands at 30 per cent. If that were the case, there would be some houses with power supply when there were blackouts. Is the 30 per cent figure to impress donors or the locals?

DOLLARS

A few years ago, a cabinet minister was asked why should the nation promote export of livestock to Pago when the population is smaller and the FDA requirements are ruthless. The response was, “American dollars.”
