Danny Tusitala is international rugby professional, husband and father.

Yesterday , Tusitala was named as part of the Samoa A squad  travelling to Uruguay for the Americas Pacific Challenge.

He is no stranger to Samoa Rugby, he has represented Samoa on the international stage before with the Manu Samoa, Samoa 7’s and Samoa A.

Tusitala recently switched to the 15 a- side-game earlier this year.

“It’s been a big year for me.  Coming from sevens where I had all sorts of goals and then just like that things can change.”

Off the pitch, Tusitala mostly enjoys down time with his wife and two kids.

“Family is everything to me.”

He recently married Shannon Lena-Marie Maiava.  The pair have two adorable kids:  Jaimee –Munroe age 2 and Kyrie Du Prezz who is 5 months.

The couple met in Auckland in 2010 and have been together ever since.  Tusitala chuckles as he recounts their first encounter.

“She wasn’t too fond of me at first.  I lied to her about my age and  told her my age was 20 when I was  actually 18.  So for the first couple of months she thought I was older until it was my birthday.”

Tusitala said that travelling does take a toll him since he is consistently away from his wife and kids. The couple keep in touch throughout the day  through social media and FaceTime.

Since his entire family is currently in New Zealand, he often spends time with his family in Elise-Fou.

“As much as it is a great opportunity for me to come here for rugby,  it’s another opportunity for me to come here and spend time with my grandma.”

Tusitala and the rest of the Samoa A squad are training this week at the High Performance Unit and will departing for Uruguay next week.
