Japan XV emerged victorious in the Pacific Challenge, taking the title from the Fiji Warriors who were the previous champions in 2023. Their victory came after defeating Tonga A which secured their place as the new champions.

The captain of the Japan XV, Yoshiaki Taian, said he was proud of his team, especially playing in a new environment.

"We are not used to this kind of environment, and we were a bit nervous, but we were determined to win this tournament," said Taian.

The team, with most players participating in their first international tournament, achieved a significant milestone as they emerged victorious. The captain was thrilled to lead the team to their first international tournament triumph.

"I'm glad that we won especially because this is our first time here," said Taian.

Looking ahead, the Japan XV captain is already thinking about the future. The team will be participating in a scout run between June and July, where players from the team will be selected to play in Japan's National Squad, the Cherry Blossoms.
