Fitness enthusiast, Fong Chan Sau, has the challenge for you. If you are looking to lose weight and get healthier, he is your guy.

Mr. Chan Sau, a Zumba Instructor, is the Coordinator of a 12 weeks challenge called “Lika Challenge”.

The challenge aims to promote healthy living among women.

Speaking to the Weekend Observer, Mr. Chan Sau said the challenge is basically to push women to exercise more and live healthy.

“This challenge is originally from Lilian Vaitupu who is living in Australia,” he said.

“She contacted me wanting someone who can manage her programme here in Samoa so that is why I am doing this.

“Also I want to help our women in becoming healthy.”

This is the second Lika Challenge. The first one was held from 16 November until 6 December last year.

“The first challenge that we did we started out with 39 members. As time went on, it dropped down to 18 and by the end of the 12 weeks, only nine were able to finish the challenge.”

“This challenge is an open challenge. Zumba is the main event of the challenge and then after the duration, it is up to the person how he/she continues.

“If they want to jog, or climb the mountains or do whatever as long as they are doing something to help them with their weight then that is okay.

“Even with food. They have to decide on their own on what kind of food they eat. The most important thing about this challenge is that they must lose weight.”

The second challenge will start this week.

Registration is $50tala.

“We are not forcing you but think healthy living.”

If you want to join the challenge contact Fong Chan Sau at his restaurant at Vailoa or catch him at Zumba sessions at the Maliu Mai every evening at 5:45pm till 6:45 Monday to Thursday for only $3tala a session. The grand prize if you win the challenge is $1,000tala.
