Agarwal's century run ends with 7th wicket by Ajaz Patel
MUMBAI India (AP) — New Zealand left-arm spin bowler Ajaz Patel took his seventh wicket of the innings and finally sent century-maker and opener Mayank Agarwal back to the pavilion early in the second session on the second day of the second cricket test against India on Saturday.
Patel ended Agarwal's innings and his fifth century at 150 runs off 311 balls. India was 305-7 with Axar Patel on 49.
Starting overnight at 221-4, India lost Wriddiman Saha early in the day. Ajaz Patel trapped him lbw in the second over of the morning, out for 27 after adding 84 runs for the fifth wicket with Agarwal.
Ajaz Patel bowled Ravichandran Ashwin off the first ball for a duck. He became the first New Zealand spinner to take five wickets in the first innings of a test in India. Previously, Jeetan Patel had the best figures of 4-100 in 2012.
India had slid to 224-6 but once again Agarwal dug his team out of trouble.
The first test ended in a draw.
