Leuluaialii Aiono Tony has been reappointed as the President of the Faleata Rugby Union after their Annual General Meeting this week.

Speaking to the Samoa Observer, Leuluaialii said he was humbled to be chosen for his reappointment, and that he was surprised that the union chose to reappoint him, He said it reflected the trust and faith placed in his leadership.

"It's been twelve years since I have held the presidency title, but I am really grateful for the appointment. It is a sign of trust," he said.

Leuluaialii says the union's domestic competition will run for 10 weeks. Ten teams are contesting the competition.

"We have 10 teams vying in this competition, and it is where we will select a team for the Super Nine competition," he said.

"We have some new teams joining our union like Tuanai, Vailoa, and Alafua raiders. But with the selection of our Faleata Knights, we will prioritize the teams in our union."

Last year Faleata Rugby Union was called Apia West until the Marist revived the union under a new governing body. Mr Lemisio and Quentin Tusa were part of the new governing body that sought to revive the organisation through the Faleata Knights franchise.

It was the new governing body that initiated the increasingly popular quick-rip programme in the Faleata Rugby Union, as well as the 10-aside and sevens divisions.

Leuluaialii said he vows to use his reappointment to keep Faleata Rugby Union moving forward and have it provide a platform for local players to showcase their talents.

Several players from the Faleata Rugby Union have made their way into Samoa's national teams.

Faleata Rugby Union has undergone only slight changes to their board of directors and organisational structure.

The new corporate structure is as follows:

President Leuluaialii Tony Aiono (Malie Sharks), Vice President Aoelua Siu TSA (Lepea Village), Treasurer Quentin Tusa (Marist), Vice Treasurer Laulu Matt Williams (Taufusi Eels), Secretary Lemalu John Lemisio (Marist), Vice Secretary Masuisui Ketesemane Tagilima (Malie Sharks).

The union's patrons are the caretaker Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Dr Sailele Malielegaoi, Su'a Peter Schuster, Sir Toby Kapisi, Hon Salausa John Ah Ching.

Their Audit Firm is Su'a & Pauga Finance, their Chairman is Tupa'i Klauz Staunzer, and their main sponsor is the Vailima Breweries.
