Netball Champ of Champs declared success

The Samoa Post Primary Principals Association (S.P.P.P.A) has acknowledged everyone who contributes to making the Business Systems Limited (B.S.L.) Champ of Champs girls’ netball tournament possible.

The two-day contest finished on Monday and included dozens of teams and hard-fought matches.

The contest was made possible as a joint initiative between Netball Samoa and NETGO Samoa, who collaborated with the S.P.P.P.A. B.S.L. provided event sponsorship.

"National Netball Champs 2021 was a successful event because of your support in the development of netball in secondary schools,!" said a spokesperson from the S.P.P.P.A Coordinating team NNC21.

Organisers say they were very surprised with the level of competition on display this year and are hoping it will continue to prosper.

The competition is divided into Junior, Intermediate and Senior Divisions. 

Both divisions consist of eight colleges from Savaii and Upolu.

The Juniors division features Itu o Tane College from Savaii, Lepa/Lotofaga College, Palauli College, Paul VI College, Robert Louis Stevenson College, Samoa College, St Mary's College, and Wesley College.

At the intermediate level participants included have Anoamaa College, Church College of Pesega College, Lefaga College, Mata-ae-vave College, Palauli College, Paul VI College, Samoa College, and St Mary's College.

The seniors’ contest was composed of Pesega College, Church College of Vaiola, Don Bosco Savaii, Lefaga College, Maluafou College, Palalaua College, Safata College, and Samoa College.

"Congratulations to all the Division Winners and Runner-Ups.Thank you to all the teams that participated,” the spokesperson said.

The competition results are as follows:

Senior Division:

  1. Samoa College

  2. Pesega College

  3. Vaiola College

  4. Palalaua College 

Intermediate Division:

  1. St Mary's College

  2. Samoa College

  3. Anoamaa College

  4. Mata-ae-vave College

Junior Division:

  1. St Mary's College

  2. Samoa College

  3. RLSS

  4. Palauli College

Organisers praised the tournament for giving players the ability to showcase their talents, team spirit, sportsmanship, and love for the game..

Netball Samoa’s President, Peseta Noumea Simi, Executive Committee and partners in Australia and New Zealand were singled out for their support.

So too was Netball Samoa’s C.E.O., Rosemarie Lome, and NETGO Samo.

The association also praised the tournament umpires, scorers, and technical officials.

The Church College of Pesega played host to the championship. 

The Samoa Red Cross and Police also supported the tournament’s staging.
