Leifiifi College defended their team's honour on Saturday by triumphing against Palalaua College on Friday at the Leifiifi College field, 22 - 3.

During the first half of the game, Leifiifi took the lead after they landed twice on Palalaua's try line, and their first-five adding the extra two points for both tries, 14 - 0.

However, a foul by Leifiifi led to Palalaua's decision to go for the penalty kick, and it went in between the two posts, putting Palalaua on the scoreboard, 14 - 3 before they went into the half time break.

Coming back from the break, Leifiifi added another score and a penalty kick to extend their lead against Palalaua, 22 - 3.

During the match, there were a few sin bins for Leifiifi players for foul play. According to Leifiifi's assistant coach, Faafouina Samuelu, the mistakes that happen during the game, all happened due to poor discipline in his players. He said they will be working hard to improve on areas they lack discipline in, in their preparations for next week's battle.

"It's true that Leifiifi has won but there are many areas that were a defect as you've witnessed, with lots of yellow cards and things like that," he said.

"It all happens because of the discipline, I think that's where most of our work will be based on next week. We will try to improve their discipline and correct the mistakes they did today [Friday] for next week's comeback," added Samuelu.

There were a lot of injuries from the game, and he believes that if students are unfit, then the possibility of getting injuries is high. He said it was understandable that players need to train and get their fitness levels up in order to accomplish their goals and avoid injuries.

"That's why we have trained so that they can get the strength and fitness to avoid injuries. If you are fit, you'll be able to avoid getting injured. But then we don't actually talk about accidents but we are grateful that the Red Cross and the police are present to protect and secure the children's game," he said.

Leifiifi College is coached by Andy Pula, their manager is Niu Leifi, and their trainer is Penitito Paulo.

The school competition will continue next week Thursday and Friday.
