Taema remains positive they will be up for the challenge when Women's SRU Lakapi Challenges come around.

Taema's Technical Assistant, Auimatagi Sapani Pomare, said although there is a lot of work to be done, but there is still time.

Taema is among four women's teams slated for the competition.

"There's a lot of work needed especially their line-outs and set piece," Auimatagi said. "Their set-piece should be very good, their scrums, their breakdowns, they should be able to understand each other, and most especially their tackling skills. Their tackles should be good, to avoid getting injured."

Taema was put through their paces during a friendly game against Tilafaiga at Tuanaimato on Friday.

"This is the start of their friendly games, and yet there were five ladies who were injured today. This was our concern before they went out on the field. They should understand rugby better and most of all their safety is our priority," he said.

The Taema team was selected two weeks ago and they have been training at the High-Performance Unit field every day.

"We are hoping that by the 13th of November, our girls will reach the next level," said the Coach.

"As you have seen today there is a lot work needed for the girls. They need to learn more about their roles, they were a bit messy on the field. Some are new to rugby and they haven't really been in rugby and understand it."

"We are now doing everything we can to make a change, so that they can bring a competitive game for our audience on the day and enjoy the sport."
