Springboks prop Nyakane fit, heading home for birth of child
CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) — Springboks prop Trevor Nyakane is fit and available for the Rugby World Cup game against New Zealand, although he's traveled back to South Africa for the birth of his child.
Nyakane twisted his knee in the Springboks' warmup win over Japan on Friday. He's clear to play in South Africa's World Cup opener against the defending champion on Sept. 21.
SA Rugby says Nyakane flew back to South Africa on Saturday to be with his wife and he's expected to rejoin the squad in Japan on Friday, eight days before the Springboks play the All Blacks.
