The man who is likely to lead Toa Samoa tomorrow, Sauaso Jesse Sue, is ready for battle.

The West Tigers lock made his international debut for Toa Samoa in the 2013 World Cup game against Fiji Bati.  Seven players from the Fiji Bati team that defeated Toa in 2013 will be playing this Saturday.

“It is a bit of vengeance and it hurt bad when they beat us.,” he said. “Hopefully we get one on top of them and come out with the win.

For Sue and many of the team, their tight knit group bonding is what keeps bringing him back.

“I love playing with the boys.  The week with the boys is the best bit,” he said.

“When you go to the clubs there isn’t really many Samoans on the team.   It’s always good and makes you feel like home when you’re all together.  It’s something special,” he commented.

Born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, Sue started playing footy at 13 years old and he hasn’t stopped.

“Some friends from school needed some numbers, so  I put my hand up and  played wing and moved up the ranks and now playing for Toa.”

Outside of being an international league star, Sue is also a father.   Sue and his partner recently had a child last year and although travelling takes a toll on him, it’s all worth it in the end.

“I’ve got a thirteen month year old now.  He’s running around and pulling everything apart.”

“One thing about these trips is that I miss my family and I miss my little boy. It does take a toll especially this long trip, usually we go away for 4-5 days.  This is the longest time I’ve been away.”

Less than 48 hours from the historical match up, Sue and the rest of the squad are ready and raring to go.

“It’s exciting.”
