Tonga test for Fetu Samoa
Fetu Samoa is set to take on Tonga XIII as part of the Pacific Championship on 19 October at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
President of the Rugby League Samoa, Fiu Faaolatane Ponifasio Vasa the match will be a World Cup qualifier because Samoan women haven't qualified for the World Cup.
"If they win in Fiji, they will have a break for a week. Then travel to New Zealand to await their next opponent which will be decided between Fiji and the Cook Islands," he said.
"If they win that match whether it would be Fiji or Cook Island, then their spot in the World Cup will be a guarantee. Not only that, but they will advance to the promotion and relegation round that will be in Australia on 10 November."
According to Fiu, if Fetu Samoa are successful, they will play against the bottom team or the third team from the Cup tournament which Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea are playing in.
The Fetu Samoa is yet to announce their team for their upcoming match against Tonga XIII.
The World Cup will be held in Australia and Papua New Guinea in 2026.
