Aiga Malamalama Tatau Inc. makes donation

Putting a smile on the faces of fathers residing at the Home of the Elderly Mapuifagalele, Vailele was the mantra behind a donation by Aiga Malamalama Tatau Inc.

As a newly established organisation, the Aiga Malamalama Tatau Club chairman and traditional tattooist, Su'a Paulo Suluape Lafaele told the Samoa Observer that they just wanted to give back to the community.

The club is made up of more than 40 members who received their traditional Samoan tattoo from Su'a Paulo and they are looking at registering their organisation legally with the Ministry of Commerce Industry and Labour.

It was the first time they have ever made a donation since the club's inception and Su'a said that it was not hard to choose Mapuifagalele as the recipient of a $1,500 tala cheque from Aiga Malamalama Tatau Inc. at the weekend.

"I know it's not much, but it's only the beginning of what we are willing to achieve as a club," Su'a said.

"This is our first ever donation and choosing the recipient was not hard for us, because we believe that our elders in Mapuifagalele could use this money for fathers day.

"We honestly believe that our blessings flow from the top and from our elders so we wanted to give something to lighten up their mood and make them happy as they celebrated fathers day in Mapuifagalele.

"We also wanted to lend a hand and help out the nuns who are looking after and taking there of our elders who are residents at Mapuifagalele."

According to Su'a, the money they were able to donate to Mapuifagalele was collected from the registration fees of their members as well as the small fundraising activities they did.

"As I said, it's nothing big, but this is only the beginning as we are just starting up."

Aiga Malamalama Tatau Inc was formerly known as Avele Malofie 2009 according to Su'a.

"That's because we started this organisation with people who are old students of Avele College," he said. "But as our group expanded and we had more people on board, we decided to change the name of the group so we came up with the name Aiga Malamalama Tatau."
