The Member of Parliament for Gagaifomauga No. 2 Fo'isala Tu'u Ioane took his oath of allegiance on Tuesday morning before the Speaker of the House, Papalii Lio Masipau.

Dressed in a red suit confirming his allegiance with the new Government led by Fa'atuatua ile Atua Samoa ua Tasi (F.A.S.T.), the new M.P. is the latest addition to the ruling party's numbers, boosting its House majority to 32 to lead the Opposition's Human Rights Protection Party (H.R.P.P.) with 22 Members.

Addressing the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday morning with his maiden speech, Fo'isala thanked his village of Lefagaoalii for their trust and support and acknowledged the work of the former and late M.P. Vaele Iona Sekuini.

He said he intends to continue the development that his predecessor has already started, while emphasising that his constituency fully supports the Appropriation Bill 2022, which was deliberated on after his swearing-in ceremony.

The M.P. had the support of his family, village and representatives of his constituency on his first day in the Legislative Assembly.

His swearing-in ceremony in the House on Tuesday morning marked the start of a hectic week as only the day before his constituency presented him to the F.A.S.T. party on Monday ahead of the Parliament sitting.

A businessman and father of two from Lefagaoalii Savai'i, the new M.P. said he is a servant for his constituency and will do his best to deliver on developments that will assist in the improvement of livelihoods within villages in his constituency.
