Manu Samoa squad named for Pacific Nations Cup

Manu Samoa's Head Coach, Vaovasamanaia Seilala Mapusua, has announced a strong 30-man squad for the Pacific Nations Cup (P.N.C.) 2022 in Fiji next month. 

Michael Alaalatoa will captain the team that includes new names like Ereatara Enari, Danny Toala, Jordan Taufua and Lolagi Visinia. 

Jordan Taufua, a 30-year-old Samoan who used to play for the Crusaders team and is currently playing for Lyon Olympique Universitaire Rugby in France, posted on his personal twitter account on how proud he is to be chosen to play for Samoa.   

"Looking forward to representing my family and excited to add value to the Jersey," Taufua wrote. 

 Lolagi Visinia is a Samoan based in New Zealand and currently plays as a wing or fullback for Moana Pasifika in Super Rugby and Hawke's Bay in New Zealand's domestic National Provincial Championship competition. 

Danny Toala is a 23-year-old who currently plays as a midfield back or fullback for Moana Pasifika in Super Rugby. 

Ereatara Enari currently plays as a halfback for Moana Pasifika in Super Rugby. He is 25 years old. 

Other uncapped players include, Nigel Ah Wong, Michael Curry, Sef Fa'agase, Marco Fepulea'i, Fritz Lee, Duncan Paia'aua, Aki Seiuli, and Andrew Tuala. 

Vaovasamanaia has named a strong forward pack ahead of their matches against Tonga, Australia A and Fiji.  

The team includes: Nigel Ah Wong, Michael Alaalatoa, Aj Alatimu, Michael Curry, Ereatara Enari, Sef Fa'agase, Auvasa Falealii, Marco Fepulea'i, Ed Fidow, Neria Fomai, Rodney Iona, Jack Lam, Seilala Lam, Fritz Lee, D'Angelo Leuila, Theodore McFarland, Alamanda Motuga, Raymond Niuia, Duncan Paia'aua, Aki Seiuli, Samuel Slade, Henry Taefu, Jordan Taufua, Jonathan Taumateine, Henry Time-Stowers, Danny Toala, Andrew Tuala, Kalolo Tuiloma, Lolagi Visinia, and Chris Vui. 

Manu Samoa will play against Australia A on the 2nd of July at the ANZ Stadium, Suva Fiji. 

The match with Tonga will take place on the 9th of July, at the Churchill Park, in Lautoka Fiji. 

Lastly, Manu Samoa will play with Fiji on the 16th of July, also at the Churchill Park in Lautoka Fiji.
