Samoan fighting 'assassination' extradition assaulted in jail: lawyer

A man who has spent more than a fighting an attempt to extradite him to Samoa to face charges of allegedly plotting to assassinate the former Prime Minister has been assaulted in a jailhouse brawl, his lawyer says. 

Talalelei Pauga is being held under maximum security conditions in Brisbane Correctional Centre, his lawyer, Fagaloa Tufuga Fagaloa said. He stands accused of being involved in a plot to assassinate the former Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Dr. Sailele Malielegao, in a case that it is understood police will alleged was financed to some degree by money from overseas.
