A father of three traveled to Upolu all the way from Savaii on the early morning ferry just to claim his children’s prizes won courtesy of a promotion by retail company Ah Liki Wholesale.

The two children of Niusilani Aigaalii from Sataua Savaii were lucky winners of a joint promotion launched by Anchor Butter and Ah Liki Wholesale.

His son, Melani Niusilani was one of the ten main prize winners who won a MIDEA microwave as well as a $200 shopping voucher at Farmer Joe Supermarket.

While his daughter Vienna Niusilani was one of five consolation prize winners who also won prizes.

A prize giving ceremony was held on Saturday where some of the winners received prizes. 

Speaking to the Samoa Observer, Mr. Aigaalii said that the significance of the prizes they received is that it will help their family to meet some of their daily needs, especially with the much needed shopping voucher which they will use to buy some of the food supplies.

“I want to thank the companies involved especially Ah Liki because these prizes are not something you win every day,” he said.

"I work at a bakery and butter is used as an ingredient to bake and that is how I was able to gather what I needed to enter from children’s names for a chance to win a prize.

“And because we live quite far from Salelologa, we woke around 1 am and came by bus and arrived at Salelologa at 4am then the ferry left and arrived at Mulifanua at 7am and of course came by bus to Vaitele.

“The prize is important to us to further develop our family for the future.”

The "Anchor White Sunday promotion" ran for five weeks from 6 September through to 10 October 2021.

In a statement, local company, Ah Liki Wholesale spoke on behalf of Anchor Butter in relaying their congratulations to the lucky winners.

The company said in their increasing efforts to give back to the Samoan community, the Ah Liki Wholesale team has once again joined forces with Anchor Butter to give away prizes in commemoration of White Sunday celebrations last weekend.

The promotion criteria is that is you purchase any 100g, 227g or 454g of Anchor Butter, you are guaranteed an entry into the draw, to win from 10 main prizes.

Over 8,000 entries were collected from both Upolu and Savaii islands, which is an indication of the growing excitement reciprocated from our people for carrying out these promotions, as our way of giving back to them for choosing Anchor products for their everyday needs.

The lucky ten winners were drawn at the Ah Liki Wholesale at the Taufusi branch on Thursday, along with five additional recipients for consolation prizes. The ceremony was streamed live via the main social media platforms, and the prizes were presented on Saturday.
