The five colleges within the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa (C.C.C.S.) celebrated a milestone on Thursday morning.

The auspicious occasion was the launching of a zoom school project and it was well attended by Leaders of the C.C.C.S. Church, the head of C.C.C.S. Education Board, Minister of Education Sports and Culture teachers and students.

A first of its kind in Samoa, the project aims at connecting all the students and teachers amongst the five church colleges in the country and enable them to use the resources and project to enhance their knowledge of technologies.

The Chairman of the C.C.C.S., Reverend Elder Iosefa Uilelea led a special service to commemorate the milestone.

"We are gathered here today, to witness the opening of this wonderful project," Reverend Elder Iosefa said.

"The project is to enhance the knowledge of our students in terms of technologies and the usage of Zoom to connect with other students and for research purposes."

He also acknowledged the assistance from the Council of World Mission (C.W.M.) who funded the project.

"On behalf of the C.C.C.S., I take this opportunity to express our sincere heartfelt gratitude to the C.W.M. for funding this project.

"We believe this is an expensive project and we are so proud and thankful that we now have this educational technology for our church schools.

"We truly admit that we are the luckiest schools in Samoa. We are very confident that the project will encourage our students to break down the cycle of fear and discrimination, hate, and abuse and will create a room for them to start a new life in learning.

"This is a very welcoming project for the lives of our students who have gone astray and need support and understanding."

He also used the opportunity to remind and urge the teachers and students to use the resources wisely.

"Don't let these new changes and new technologies consume our precious time and use it for any other reasons or control the way we are as Christians."

The Minister of Education, Sports and Culture, Seu'ula Ioane commended the C.C.C.S. for such an important project. He also noted the significance of the project for the students.

"This is a great milestone and a very important project that the C.C.C.S. has started.

"In this day and age, technology is quite vital. A lot has been said about the negative sides of technologies, but it depends on how you utilise these resources and what you use them for.

"This is a great milestone for the colleges, that will be using these resources and this project."

The project was launched at Maluafou College while students and teachers from the other four C.C.C.S. colleges joined in the celebration via Zoom.
