Saint Mary's Primary School, Savalalo "The Assumption of Mary to Heaven" Feast Day on Friday morning.
The school marked the feast day on Friday in advance of the weekend; the Feast Day falls on Sunday.
The event was opened with a mass at which parents, families, friends, and old pupils gathered to celebrate on Friday morning.

The event coordinator and the director for ceremonial services, Ms. Malia Esera, told the Samoa Observer that they only had one week to prepare for the event.
"One week is not enough, especially if you look at the many preparations we needed,” she said.
“But we made it possible together with the contribution from the students and parents.”

"Today's event was very beautiful, from the morning mass to the entertainments, to the lunch.
“I’m happy with today's happenings. As they say, when work is done we give thanks and praise to the man above."
The performances of the day were staged by Level 6, Level 7, and Level 8 students. A cake was also presented by the graduating class of 2020 after the mass.

"As a coordinator of the event, I am happy to say that this is one of the best preparations by St Mary's this year,” she said.
“With the little amount of time that we had to prepare for this, this was beyond our expectations.
“We are grateful to the parents for their continuous support and are always ready to lend a hand when we need it."
A member of the graduates of 2020 upon presenting their cake told the school that no matter where they go they will always look back and remember where they all started.

The Principal, Mrs. Yvetta Vui, said that St Mary's Savalalo will continue to pray for graduating students’ well-being as they embark on their new journey in their new schools.
"Thank you so much to the Head Girl of 2020, their family of prefects, and also to their whole class for the cake, we appreciate the thoughts, rest assured that Saint Mary's Savalalo will continue to pray the rosary to our guardian Mother Mary to continue to intercede for us all," she said.

"We are very honoured that even though you've left Savalalo, you still remembered our birthday and our feast day.
“It is enough to prove that even though you've left, your hearts are still with Savalalo. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you all and we wish you all the best with this year's endeavors."
