The Tuilagi family at Fatausi, Safotulafai welcomed two new holders of the title on Saturday morning.

They are Tuilagi Laki Andersen and Tuilagi Oloipola Lupe.

Reverend Tesimeta Afamasaga and Deacon Patolomeo officiated a service to bless the new titleholders of the Tuilagi family and pray for God's guidance upon them as they carry out their duties as family matai.

Family and friends from near and far traveled and assembled at the Saipaia Itupaepae malae for the special occasion.

The orators and high chiefs of Safotulafai and the Tuilagi family also had the opportunity to not only wish the new titleholders on their new journey reminding them to serve their family and village with love and humility.

In an interview with the Samoa Observer, Tuilagi Laki Andersen said he was "honored" to have been chosen by his family to carry the Tuilagi title.

"The title Tuilagi is a very special and a significant title," the new Tuilagi titleholder said.

"So to have been given the honor to carry the title is quite a humbling experience. I am very honored and privileged."

Tuilagi then acknowledged God's guidance and protection upon their family and for making the special ceremony possible.

He also took the opportunity to thank his family for their support and for placing their trust, honoring him with the Tuilagi title.

"Not anyone can be a Tuilagi," he said with a smile.

"So you can imagine how I feel right now that they have finally bestowed the title upon me and Tuilagi Lupe.

"All the glory goes back to He who made it possible."

Moreover, Tuilagi Laki also paid homage to his ancestors and forefathers for the sacrifices they made, which he believes wholeheartedly, is why they are living a "wonderful and peaceful life."

Tuilagi Laki said he's a descendant of Tuilagi Letasi, one of the Mau a Pule orators who was exiled together with Namulauulu Lauaki Mamoe.

Lastly, Tuilagi Laki, has vowed that he will serve his family and village to the best of his ability.

"As I said, I am honored to have this opportunity to serve.

"I will do my best and use this chance to give back to my family and lead with love and humility. This is not something I should be prideful of, but I will humbly use this title and opportunity to serve our family, village, community and church."
