A battle between two Human Rights Protection Party members over the Vaimauga No.1 seat is likely to be settled if negotiations this morning go as planned.

Fuatimau Maumea requested from the Court, through his lawyer this morning, for an adjournment and notified them of the possibility of a settlement between the parties.

He petitioned winner and elected M.P. for Vaimauga No.1 constituency, Sulamanaia Tauiliili Tanuvasa.

Sulamanaia through his lawyer confirmed the discussions underway.

Chief Justice, His Honour Satiu Simativa Perese granted a brief adjournment to 12.30 p.m. to allow the members to negotiate.

Fuatimau collected 991 votes while Sulamanaia won over 1349 ballots from the constituency.

Other petitions that are scheduled for today include that of the leader of the Tautua Samoa party, Afualo Dr. Wood Salele against his rival Fepuleai Fa’asavalu Faimata for the Salega No.1 seat.

The third petition is for the Aana Alofi No.3 challenge brought by former Tautua Samoa M.P. Ili Setefano Taateo against winner Agaseata Valelio Peto.
