The battle for the ultimate four-wheel-drive experience in Samoa has gone up a notch with the unveiling of the Nissan Navara Pro 4X by local automobile company Nissan Samoa.

Over 200 guests attended the unveiling of the new Nissan model at the Taumeasina Island Resort last Thursday.

Nissan Samoa Managing Director Morry Stua said in her speech at the unveiling that the new Nissan model exudes “innovation that excites” and is the new trend.

"Our mission for Nissan is to be able to deliver a world class fleet of vehicles that are unique and designed to be tough in its longevity,” she said.

“We live on an island where road infrastructure is continuously improving and the need for access to vehicles that are safe and sustainable on our roads is why Nissan Samoa exists.”

According to a Nissan Samoa media release, one of the newly imported trucks was sold on the night of its unveiling for a special price where $10,000 was cut from its normal retail price for the first buyer.

It was sold that night to Joshua Newton who bought the vehicle as an early birthday present for his partner.

When contacted by the Samoa Observer on Saturday for a comment, Ms. Sua said the vehicle costs above $130,000 upwards.

She added that there are only two of these units that have arrived in Samoa with one sold on the night of the launch and the other currently sitting in their showroom.

Explaining the difference between the new model and its predecessor, Ms. Sua said the Nissan Navara Pro 4X came with advanced technologies to ensure enhanced performance both off road and in normal driving.

It also features a custom built exhibition that highlights Nissan's famous box frame concept and is built to provide superior suspension and payload capabilities.

The Pro 4X gained a bold new look borrowed from the Nissan Titan in the US and comes in an oversized grille and New Bi-Led headlight with C-shaped day light running lights.

The Pro 4x has a 2.5 litre turbo diesel engine and is available only in automatic transmission with its advanced technologies ensuring its enhanced dynamic performance on and off road as well as its safety and comfort to usher in a new age of toughness. It is available in the colours red, black, silver and grey.
