A Samoan woman based in Brisbane, Australia continues to donate books and educational materials to help children in their ongoing education. 

Soti Fealofani of Ulutogia, Aleipata and Vailuu Tai told the Samoa Observer on Saturday that donations of books began in 2018. 

Her father had passed away in 2017 and she had return to Samoa with her family that year. 

She explained that when they returned to Samoa, they had brought candy and chocolate for their families but soon saw that the candies and chocolate were not helping them. 

She thought of what she could do upon her return to Australia, in terms of education. She reached out to a school in Australia and they donated the books; similar materials were also donated by libraries in her area.

Various schools, companies and libraries in Australia assisted in the donation and Ms. Fealofani acknowledges those who had helped with the donations such as Sylvia Eades and Iosefa Mose of Mabel Park State School, Cheryl Matthews of Logan City Library, Stacey Coolin and Issac pay of Marsden Library, James Hucker of Couriers Please, Margret, Glen and Jake Lewis of Coachcap and Merina and James Petaia.

The first donation was in 2018 to her father's village in Ulutogia, Aleipata and soon after libraries and schools in Australia heard about the purpose of her donations and contributed to later donation drives.

She is happy and excited about the current donation of books and educational materials, currently being shipped to Samoa. 

The materials will be given to not-for-profit organisation Brown Girl Woke (B.G.W). 

Ms. Fealofani said B.G.W. founder, Maluseu Doris Tulifau, would decide who will receive the donated materials. 

"Her purpose is where my heart is. So I trust her fully with that donation, she absolutely knows what do with it," she said.

For 2021 she has donated reading books for primary schools and educational materials for all levels for the subjects of science and maths. 

Ms. Fealofani has also acknowledged the assistance of her family and the support shown for the work she does.
