Tauiliili Kolose Fruean from Amaile is running for Aleipata Itupa i Lalo in the election and says he was inspired to do so after the loss of his wife changed his perspective. 

Tauiliili is running under the banner of newly created Opposition party, Faatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (F.A.S.T.)

The 65-year-old said he was inspired to run only recently, after watching the drama unfold when F.A.S.T.’s founder, La’auli Polatavao Schmidt's, made his exit from the Parliament.

He was also captivated by the resignation of the former Deputy Prime Minister, Fiame Naomi Mata'afa, from the Cabinet and the Human Right Protection Party (H.R.P.P.).

Tauiliili said that, apart from being tired of hearing the Prime Minister’s statements on national television and radio every day, his personal circumstances have also inspired him to try to achieve a change of Government. 

Loosing his wife in August to heart problems after multiple attempts to get her medivaced to New Zealand for treatment, and despite the airfare already being paid, Tauiliili claimed that the request was declined. 

Consequently, he said choosing the F.A.S.T. party was a simple decision.

Among the party’s policies, he cites its new infrastructure funding model of providing each constituency with $1 million to manage their own developments. 

Tauiliili said he aims to develop his constituency the best he can if he is to be elected into the seat. 

He also aims to repeal the controversial Land Titles Registration Act 2008.

"My dear constituency, your vote is not bought with money, and neither is your trust," he said. 

"However, the most important thing is, if you want better change for Samoa, it cannot happen if you do not vote for F.A.S.T."

Aleipata Itupa i Lalo is made up of Amaile, Lotopue, Malaela, Mutiatele, Salea'amua, Samusu, Satitoa, Tiavea, Utufaalaiafa.

Tauiliili will be running against Fiugalu Eteuati Eteuati and the incumbent Member of Parliament, Tafua Maluelue Tafua.
