Marcellin won against Darnard, 27- 20, when the two St. Joseph's College teams made up of old students clashed on Tuesday evening at Tuana'imato.

The game kick-started the Beautiful Samoa Netball Tournament, which is part of St. Joseph’s College’s 70th Anniversary commemorations.

During the celebration, old pupils of the School and St. Mary’s College have combined to form four teams: Alfred, Dieter, Marcellin and Darnand to compete in various sports.

On Tuesday, the focus was on netball. The second game of the night saw Dieter defeat Alfred, 33- 27.

In other sports, S.J.C. 70th Cricket Tournament saw Darnard defeat Alfred, 61- 55.

Dieter won against Marcellin.

But most anticipated event is the Vodafone Marist 70th Anniversary Fautasi Regatta which will feature all four crews made up of men and will be competing against an all-girls crew, Fautasi of Toa. The fautasi race will be held on Friday, 6, November at 12pm.

One of the Sports directors, Laulu Tuuigaititi Leauanae, told the Samoa Observer that the longboat regatta training has brought so much excitement to  team members and the supporters. He said that every evening, the Mulinu'u seawall is filled with more than 50 people to watch and support their relatives rowing on the boats.
