The Alafua campus of the University of South Pacific (U.S.P.) will hold a celebration for its class of 2019 graduates next month.

Replete with a photobooth to help graduating students to capture memories of them together with their classmates, the celebration will take place during the university’s Open Week.

The university’s original graduation ceremony was cancelled last November due to state of emergency restrictions relating to the measles crisis.

Students are invited to hire a graduation gown and use the photo booth between 5 and 9 October at the Alafua campus.

Gowns will be available for rent for the duration of the Alafua campus’ Open Week.

Acting Campus Director at the U.S.P. Alafua, Dr. Joeli Veitayaki, congratulated the students in a public statement published on the university’s Facebook page.

"Congratulations as you leave us to serve our people, countries and region," Dr. Veitayaki said.

A total of 115 students are graduating with degrees and certificates in various disciplines ranging from law to teaching; commerce, business administration; agriculture, science and environmental management; and library and information systems.

“We know how important this milestone is for you, so please note that if you wish to hire a graduation gown to take photos, you are more than welcome to,” the university said in its social media statement.

“We will also set up a photobooth during Open Week from [5] October to [9] October on campus with a photographer if you wish to visit and take advantage of this free service at your Alafua campus.  Just bring a flash drive for your photos.”

Some 32 students are graduating from the Faculty of Arts, Law and Education; 27 are graduating from the Faculty of Business and Economics; 23 will receive their certificates and degrees from the Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment and there are 34 graduating from the Pacific Technical and Further Education school.
