The Samoa Meteorology Division has warned the nation to expect more rainfall in the coming days. The source of rainfall activity is attributed to an active convergence zone to the south of Samoa, slowly moving over the country.

The heavy rainfall is expected to become frequent overnight and tomorrow.

Possible heavy rainfall for southern parts of larger islands and progressively becoming widespread to cover all islands by tonight.

The potential for flooding is moderate at this stage, but a Heavy Rain Advisory is now valid for Tuesday night and Wednesday.

In response to questions by the Samoa Observer via email, the Meteorology division advised the public to stay updated with the weather forecasts.

“There is still more rain on the forecast for the next 24 hours so please do stay informed of the latest weather forecast.

“We are monitoring the convergence zone very closely and provide relevant advice for any flooding and landslides for vulnerable areas.

“Please be assured there is no tropical disturbance/cyclone around the South Pacific at this stage.

“We will update accordingly for deteriorating conditions.”
