Heavy rain and windy conditions have been forecast by the Samoa Meteorology division and a heavy rain advisory remains in force for all of Samoa.

According to a notice issued by the Samoa Meteorology Division on Sunday, "the convergence zone lies slow moving over Samoa from the North."

"Active clouds are mainly to the Northeast of the islands. The system is expected to descend over Samoa and will likely introduce periods of heavy falls and thunderstorms for today and tomorrow."

A small craft advisory also remains in effect for all coastal to open waters of Samoa.

Due to the heavy rain forecast, potential impacts include heavy downpours with poor visibility, gusty winds, and fog.

Other impacts are slippery roads over mountain passes and ranges, pooling near roadsides, and overflowing river banks and waterways.

The Samoa Meteorology Division has also stated that an intense high-pressure system to the North of New Zealand continues to direct moderate to fresh Southeast to East winds over Samoa and impacts coastal to open waters of Samoa with wind waves and swells of 2.5 – 3 meters.

"This swell episode will continue to affect all coastal and open waters of Samoa till Tuesday next week."
