Photo competition launched to mark independence

The Samoa Tourism Authority (S.T.A.) has launched a photography competition to mark the celebration of Samoa’s 58th year of independence.

Kristian Scanlan, of the S.TA. said the photography competition is open to all local and overseas participants and encourages all participants to post their pictures of Samoa.

"At this point in time with everything happening in the world and with our borders closed to overseas visitors, we thought to celebrate Samoa’s 58 years of independence, we’d get people both local and abroad to post their favourite pictures taken in Beautiful Samoa," he said.

To enter the competition, individuals must like the Samoa Tourism Facebook or Instagram page, post their favourite photo taken in Samoa, tag Samoa Tourism, and use the hashtag #tutoatasi2020. All the photos will go into weekly draws to win a weekend for two with one of the selected accommodation providers.

"This promotion competition is a partnership between the Samoa Tourism Authority and the Accommodation Properties in which the winners will be staying," Mr Scanlan added. "All prizes have a validity of six months. As of today, we have over 300 entries on our Samoa Tourism Facebook and Instagram pages."

The competition will run for three weeks with draws taking place each Friday.

Last week was the first week of the competition and a Neil Tiatia was the first winner, who won two nights accommodation (including breakfast and dinner) at the Va I Moana Seaside Lodge.

This week's prize will be a weekend for two at the Sinalei Reef Resort and Spa, which will include a full tropical breakfast daily, a 15-minute head and shoulders massage for two, welcome drinks on arrival, daily afternoon tea and free use of snorkelling gear and kayaks.

The final prize for the third week will be a three-night getaway at the Taumeasina Island Resort, inclusive of a full buffet breakfast daily, free WiFi and a free pizza.
