The Easter season is upon Samoa but due to state of emergency people are this year worshiping from their homes. 

Kalameli Fa'ata'ape of Faleasiu, who attends the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa, told the Samoa Observer that her family have been praying, fasting and reading the Bible everyday from home. 

"All worship goes to God. No one knew if we would ever reach this day," Mrs. Fa'ata'ape told the Samoa Observer in an interview.

"We put all of our trust in God to guide us throughout our lives because the person who stays close to God will always rely on the Lord and will have no fear at all."

She reflected on the meaning of Good Friday and the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ.

"Today is Good Friday and it is the day that we remember the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. Me and my family continue to give our thanks to God and our nation is a nation that is founded on God because he is the creator of all things. We continue to worship him because he created Heaven and earth," she said.

She said the solution to current world problems is praying and fasting and looking to God for unity. 

"We currently hear of problems such as the coronavirus disease that we are facing and the only solution to this problem is by praying and fasting. We may be from different countries with other people but we are all united through our belief in God. This is why many countries are joining together in fasting because our faith in God unites us all," she said.

"We should continue to read the Bible because we will become wiser by reading the Bible everyday. Also people should read the Bible everyday and shouldn't wait until you go to Church. God gives us all this time at home to read the Bible."

Fata Sefo Hunt of Lotofaga, who attends the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, shared Mrs. Fa'ata'ape’s sentiments. 

"We continue to worship God throughout this time especially this week because it is a very important one to all Christians," Mr. Hunt said in an interview with Samoa Observer.

He stated that his family worships God from their home as this was an order from their leaders which he fully supports. He further stated that his religion is currently hosting a worldwide fast in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

"My family worships God peacefully from our home. All church service for my family is prepared within our home and this is the orders from our leaders which we fully support. Our church is currently hosting a worldwide fasting in response to the disease that we are now facing," he said.
