The E.S.C.A.P. Forum commenced with an Official level meeting convened from 11-12th May followed by a Ministerial Segment from 14-16th May 2018.

This year’s high level event provided an opportunity  for member states from the Asia and Pacific region to bring together Leaders, Regional experts and Heads of regional and international organisations to deliver on issues pertaining to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The theme for this year’s Commission session is “Inequality in the era of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.”

Deputy Prime Minister Fiame was also invited as one of four esteemed panel members for a High Level joint Bangladesh – U.N.D.P. side event on “Breaking the inequality trap towards sustainable graduation.”

The Panel discussion allowed the Deputy Prime Minister to share Samoa’s success stories, including its experience and possible challenges and opportunities faced on the pathway to L.D.C. graduation, and post graduation in the context of reducing inequalities to attain sustainable graduation and achieve the sustainable development goals. Samoa graduated from L.D.C. status in January 2014.
