Leilani Iu is amongst the first five Samoans slotted to perform in the Globe of Death Ride at the Samoa Fiafia Park upon its opening.

He shared his story with the Samoa Observer on how he first became a part of the circus stunt using motorcycles. 

“The first time I tried it, it was really awesome. But when there are two or more people riding in the globe at once it becomes scarier”, says Mr Iu.

Five people have to ride a motorcycle and go around the globe. They would come from different directions.

“It looks dangerous but it is indeed safe”, he says.

They are being mentored by an Argentinean called Charly Santander who is a motorcyclist and been riding for some time and he is a professional at it.

“Our teacher is very good in terms of helping us learn about this scary ride in the globe”, he added.

Despite their teacher not being able to speak fluent English, communication does not seem to be a problem for them because they understand him perfectly.

His only challenge is trying to find time so that he could visit his parents on the big island, however he is happy with his career as a performer.

The other four who are joining him in the Globe of Death ride are Bruno Loyale who is the son of the owner, Analei Itagia from Sataoa Safata, Junior Mosese from Laulii and Francis Kome from Vaimoso.
