Two grandfathers facing charges of incestuous behaviour in two separate matters involving their granddaughters have denied the charges against them.

One of them, a 75-year-old from a rural village, is facing six charges of rape and incest.

The second elderly man, separately charged is from Savai’i. He faces three counts of rape and incest.

The elderly men entered their not guilty plea through their lawyer, Alex Su’a, on Monday.

Their matters have been adjourned for separate hearing dates in August next year.

Justice Leiataualesa adjourned the matters until trial with the defendants being remanded on bail.

The elderly accused from Savai’i cannot reside with any of his grandchildren.

He is to reside at Faleula with his brother.

The second grandfather that allegedly committed the offence in a rural village has been asked to sign in at the Afega police post.

The men received an automatic name suppression to protect the identities of the alleged underage victims.

One of the two complainant’s is sheltered at the Samoa Victim Support Group.
