The 22 year-old believes that where ever you go, you will always find your way back home if you are meant to be.

Gary is a returned missionary of the Latter Day Saints church and a former student of Leulumoega Fou College.

He caught up with Village Voice yesterday while heading to his family plantation to fetch taro for dinner.

Gary ended school, was working as a a farmer before he was given a chance to spread the word of Jesus Christ.

“To be honest I never complain. I was told to give up school where I ended up being a preacher for the word of Jesus and now I find myself again being a provider.

“Without a single word and regret I did what I was told to do because I believe that life has different opportunities with different outcomes.

“You see, my family depends on the plantation for survival and its one thing that my family and I  will always be passionate about.

“We may not earn that much but at least we’ve got everything under control.

“We sell taro, banana and sometimes vegies for everyday living and one thing for sure is that we can access both water and electricity.

“To tell you the truth, if you are passionate about something you will always find yourself enjoying doing it.

He said he hasn’t thought of starting a family yet because he has learned that you can get many wives but family is one life time experience.

“To be honest, throughout all these challenges I realize that I accept and handle the responsibilities of being a family man without hesitation or the need for gratitude.

“I didn’t imagine that I would be back to this job but I am here, I am fetching taro because I was and always was meant to be a family man.

As for  hardship, he has no idea of such a thing because he was brought up to be self reliant and independent.

“My father is my role model because he works hard to not only protect, provide, nurture and love his family but pushes himself to exceed what is just required to improve his family.

To share what he has learnt from being an L.D.S. missionary Gary encourages everyone to do what you are passionate about.

Do your best and let God do the rest.

Be self reliant and never give up for He has given you the opportunities in life.
