A youth organization known as Emerging Artists Incorporated (EAI) offered various free services for the elders at Mapuifagalele on Saturday.

The president of EAI president, Keli Tuatagaloa said that their organization visited the Home of the Aged at Mapuifagalele with the aim of providing free services like clinical health checks and haircuts.

“Our organization has already registered with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour and the main purpose of today’s event is to continue our annual project known as the Cinderella project.

“The project has been running for three years now with its main purpose of giving back to the community especially the elderly at Mapuifagalele by offering clinical services, decorations for their chapel, and also haircuts for elders.

“We are in partnership with Events, Marketing and Distribution who is the organisers of the Life Con fashion show but members of the group are comprised of nurses, beauticians, hairstylists, entertainers and some are decorators,” Mr. Tuatagaloa said.

He also added that the project will run for six months every third Saturday and it officially started on May.

“There are a total of 20 active members in our group, it all started in 2016 we wanted to do charity works but we do not have money to give back but we can only offer our services freely.

According to Kevin Schuster who is the founding member of EAI and Life-Con Director, “last year we did a fun game of bingo which the elders enjoyed.”

“We also provide a bit of entertainment for them there are also other organisations that want to take part in our project and hopefully the next visit others will join us.

“We are normally spent three to four hours but sometimes longer through the clinical works our registered nurses will be checking the elderly blood pressure and sugar levels.

“Other organizations are welcomed to join and there are plans of more partnership in the future,” he said.

Sister Lucy of the Little Sisters of the Poor at Mapuifagalele conveyed their heartfelt thanksgiving towards EAI for their services offered for the elders.

“We are so thankful to them for their services, each year they bring various surprises just so they can make the elders happy and last year was bingo which the elders absolutely loved.

“We always pray for them, and for anyone that helps us, we remember them in our prayers to God to bless each and every one of them for their kind hearts.”
