University loses longest serving guard

The National University of Samoa's longest serving security guard Taavili Fepa'i has passed away.

The death of the father of four on Wednesday has devastated his family with his wife Faasoa Fepa'i saying they've lost their biggest inspiration in their family.

"He is the most hard working and the most honest man I have ever known, he is also very committed to his job at the N.U.S.

"Sometimes in the middle of the nights, he would always cover shifts for his fellow colleagues and he is always strong and you hardly see any tiredness on his face," she added.

One of the senior security guards, Fili Tagaloa, said the late security guard's death has affected them as they always looked up to him in their line of work.

Mr. Fepai has worked for the university for 10 years, with Mr. Tagaloa describing him as a very honest and decent man in how he did his job.

"There are students whom I know will miss him a lot and I also know that some of them might be relieved because they're very scared of Taavili, but that's what I mean by his honesty towards his job and that's why we put all our trust in him," Mr. Tagaloa said.

N.U.S student Vaelei Von Dinklage, who is also an executive in the N.U.S Student Association, said Mr. Fepa'i is one of their most reliable security guards when they needed assistance with anything they organise inside the campus.
